Bruce is a kid-sized humanoid robot that became a proud member of the SAIR Lab in January 2024. Designed to move and behave like a human by Westwood Robotics, it serves as a hands-on research partner for exploring a wide range of topics in robotics.
Its research interests include locomotion, visual perception, whole-body control, and human-robot interaction, especially helping newcomers test and refine their algorithms in the real world. Whether it’s learning to climb stairs, track moving objects, or recover from a push, Bruce is always ready to take on a challenge.
With its full-body form and lifelike dynamics, it turns abstract code into expressive, physical motion, and brings ideas to life, one step at a time.
